My Epiphany

The Power of Sharing Your Testimony

Hi there! Sharing my story has always been something I’ve wanted to do, but if I’m being honest, I’ve wrestled with how to start. I’ve got a knack for overthinking things, whether it’s perfectionism or just plain indecision, I’m not sure. Sometimes, I even manage to talk myself out of doing the very things I know I should. Sharing my testimony has been one of those things.

Maybe you’re wondering, “Why tell your story to people you don’t even know?” That’s a fair question. For a long time, I asked myself the same thing, even bringing it to God: “Does anyone really care about what I’ve been through?” His answer wasn’t just for me. It is for anyone feeling hesitant or unsure about opening up. Testimonies aren’t just our stories; they are a way for God to reveal His power, love, and grace to others. So here I am, ready to step past the doubts and share what I’ve learned. Maybe it’s exactly what you need to hear.

I’ve always loved listening to people’s testimonies. There’s something about hearing how God works in someone’s life; the miracles, big or small; that leaves me in awe of His goodness. I’m especially drawn to the little details in stories, the ones that might seem insignificant but carry the weight of the entire narrative. Those small, overlooked moments often reveal the most about God’s hand in our lives.

Interestingly, I’ve found that stories shared by strangers sometimes touch me more deeply than those told by people I know. It’s not because I don’t value the testimonies of friends and family, but familiarity can blur our perspective. We often see people as who they used to be, and it becomes harder to recognize the beauty of their transformation. Strangers, on the other hand, share their stories without the need to convince us; they simply tell them as they are. That raw honesty is powerful, and it’s a reminder of how God works through the most authentic parts of our lives.

One of my favorite parts of the Bible is the story of David and Goliath. It is an iconic tale, known far and wide. But for me, the most captivating part isn’t the battle itself; it is what happens just before. In 1 Samuel 17:17-24, David’s father, Jesse, sends him to deliver food to his brothers on the battlefield. David arrives to find Goliath mocking the Israelite army, and he’s deeply disturbed by what he hears. That moment sets the stage for everything that follows.

When I read this part of the story, it amazes me how much of God’s glory is packed into those seemingly small details:

God’s Perfect Timing: David wasn’t supposed to be at the battlefield. He was just there to deliver food; a task that might have seemed mundane or unrewarding. But he arrived at the exact moment Goliath was mocking God’s people. This reminds us that God’s timing is always perfect, even when we’re carrying out tasks that seem small or insignificant.

Confidence in God: David, just a young shepherd, walked into a scene where trained soldiers were too scared to act. Yet, he spoke boldly, trusting in God completely. He saw something they didn’t. The power of God! It shows the strength we have when we know who we are in Him.

Humility in Purpose: David wasn’t there to fight; he was there to serve. He didn’t complain about his task, even though he knew he was meant for great things. This humility reminds us of Jesus, who, though He was the King of kings, chose to live simply and give His life for us.

These small details in David’s story remind me of the testimonies I love to hear today. Each one, no matter how extraordinary or simple, points back to Jesus. I’ve heard stories from people with wildly different pasts; ex-witches, ex-sorcerers, ex-murderers, ex-Muslims, ex-Buddhists, ex-transgender individuals, and many others. Their transformations are as diverse as their backgrounds, yet they all share the same core truth: Jesus’ love changes everything.

What stands out the most to me is how these transformations show what it means to truly become a child of God. No matter the life someone has lived; whether they were a CEO commanding power, a gang leader inspiring fear, or someone lost in the depths of despair; when Jesus touches them, they become like children again. It’s like seeing the strong give up their power and the tough rediscover their innocence. They are no longer defined by their past but by their new identity as beloved children of God. In Matthew 18:3, Jesus said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

What I find most beautiful is that these stories no longer belong to the people who lived them; they belong to Jesus. He has taken over their narratives, using them to draw more souls to Him. My story is one of those. It is no longer just mine; it is His. That’s why I feel called to share it. I know it is my responsibility to speak, and I trust that God will lead it to the hearts that need to hear it.

So, what about you? Would you share your story? You never know whose life your testimony might touch. Your story might be the light someone needs to find their way back to life (God).

Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how He has had mercy on you.” Mark 5:19
