My Epiphany

About

Dear reader,

At first, this blog intended to honor the stories of our loved ones lost in the 1994 Tutsi genocide—a crucial effort to preserve their memories alive.
There was a belief that digging into these narratives would bring healing, helping us understand ourselves through their experiences. However, as I embarked on a profound journey of healing, I came to realize that the path to healing doesn’t solely lie in recounting their stories. They lived their lives fully, with unique struggles, hope, and daily courage for a better future, although some with tragically short lives. While I will continue to incorporate their narratives, this blog will extend beyond them.

The focus will shift towards rising from the dust, breaking free from the pain and trauma passed down through generations—a cycle of pride and shame. I will share my healing and transformative journey. From the beginning, sharing this journey with you felt imperative, as I’ve recognized common threads that could resonate with others in my circle. This blog serves as my tribute to the resilience of the past, an acknowledgment of shared challenges, and a hope for those who may find comfort in realizing they are not alone.

It is a commitment to my younger self, who once battled with loneliness and constructed emotional armour to navigate perceived dangers that, though no longer real, persisted in her mind. I aspire to inspire, uplift, and instill hope in the hearts of those navigating their own battles.
